Pneumatic tires are an alternative to solid forklift tires, each with their own advantages. Pneumatic tires are much like truck tires or those fitted to any regular car; they consist of a rubber casing around an inflatable inner tube. This design makes for smoother, less bumpy drives on rough terrain, with an optimum skid steer. However, being out on rough terrain means pneumatic tire forklifts are more vulnerable to damage, and you will have to replace the tires more frequently.

Punctures are not a problem for solid forklift tires. What makes a tire solid is its hard-wearing rubber all the way through. Solid rubber tires last significantly longer than rubber tires, though severe structural damage might still mean you have to replace the tire. However, solid tires are only suitable to use on flat, even surfaces such as warehouse floors; the solid rubber does not cushion tires sufficiently against harsh terrain.

Pneumatic tires are typically used on forklifts and pallet jacks that are used outdoors. That's not to say they can't be used indoors but typically these forklifts will have large turning radiuses and aren't that maneuverable indoors.

We offer two types of pneumatic tires for forklifts of all rim sizes: general service tires and premium service tires

General service tires are well suited for light-duty applications. They will typically have a lower ply rating than the same tire in a premium version.

Premium service air tires are better suited for tougher applications. They will have a higher ply rating and feature more rubber material than the same tire in a general service version.

When shopping for pneumatic forklift tires, check out the ply rating and the total load capacity of the tire. You can also check the overall weight of the tire and get an idea of how much rubber one tire has compared with another. Buying the right tire for the work you’re planning will extend tire life.
